Andrés Mardones, alumno de 3º año de diseño de la Universidad Católica, ganó el concurso “Encaja con Huggies”, que buscaba darle un segundo uso a las cajas de pañales. El proyecto ganador se llama “La granja en movimiento” y consiste en un packaging desarmable, que al desprender sus piezas prepicadas, puedes armar animales de la granja. Una vez armado el cuerpo, le agregas la cabeza y ésta se puede mover manualmente. Felicitaciones al ganador que, como premio, viajará el próximo año al Salón del Mueble en Milán! [English readers..]

El Carmelit, metro de Haifa (Israel), fue contruido en 1959, tiene seis estaciones, transporta a más de dos mil personas al día y escala una colina de 1.8 kilómetros. Funciona igual que cualquier metro, pero de subida/bajada.
[English - quoted from designboom] The carmelit is an uphill subway system in haifa, israel that opened in 1959. the system has 6 stations along its 1.8 km track that climbs mt. carmel. the stations look very much like a regular subway but are slopped on an angle with stairs to make moving up and down easier. The system transports around 2,000 people along the track each day and is among the most unusual subway stations in the world.

‘Puerta Cortina’, diseñada por Matharoo Associates para un mercader de diamantes en India. La puerta tiene 5.2 metros de alto, 1.7 de ancho y está dividida en 40 secciones de madera cortada en Birmania. La puerta se sostiene y funciona gracias a 160 poleas, 80 rodamientos, un cable metálico y un contrapeso oculto dentro del pivote.

At 5.2m (17 feet) high and 1.7m (5,5 feet) wide, the door is comprised of 40 sections of 254mm-thick Burma teak. Each section is carved so that the door integrates 160 pulleys, 80 ball bearings, a wire-rope and a counter weight hidden within the single pivot.
