El diseñador alemán Arndt Menke- zumbragel ha creado esta bicicleta totalmente funcional de 2.3 kilos utilizando en su mayoría madera luego de un largo estudio de sus propiedades.

Diseñada por Dominic Hargreaves, estudiante de Arte en Inglaterra, esta bicicleta se dobla hasta quedar totalmente compacta. Tal como ven en las fotos y el video, la bicicleta no usa cadenas sino un sistema interno hidráulico para poder funcionar. Por ahora es sólo un concepto pero se espera que esté a la venta a fines de año.

Torkel Dohmer es el diseñador de la bicicleta “Thisway” y ganador de un concurso que buscaba un diseño que promoviera el uso de este importante medio de transporte. La bici tiene un techo que protege al ciclista del mal tiempo y esta hecha de material liviano. Ademas tiene luces atras y adelante que funcionan a base de unos paneles instalados en el techo que reciben energia solar. Su diseño similar al de un auto incluso deja un espacio atras para llevar un bulto pequeño.
“The ‘Thisway’ bicycle design by Torkel Dohmer was recently selected as the winner bicycle design’s ‘Commuter bike for the masses’ design competition. The bike features covered top which provides
weather protection for the rider. Dohmer also made the design very automobile-like to attract new cyclists. The bike would be made from very lightweight materials and feature led lights at the back and front that would be solar powered through a panel on the roof. The back features a space for luggage.”

Es asi como nace LiteLane, un concepto de seguridad de los diseñadores de Altitude, Inc. y que mediante la proyeccion de laseres en la calle, crea una pista virtual que define claramente los limites entre el ciclista y el automovilista.

Ian Mahaffy y Maarten de Greeve han sido seleccionados como los ganadores en la competencia para diseñar los nuevos estacionamientos de bicicletas para la ciudad de Nueva York. La figura circular imita el tamaño y forma de una rueda de bicicleta y ademas tiene un palo que le cruza para darle mayor estabilidad. Estas instalaciones parecen flotar en el suelo y estan hechas de metal. En los proximos tres años, mas de 5,000 de estos diseños seran instalados en la ciudad.
“Ian Mahaffy and Maarten de Greeve have been selected as the winners in the competition to design new bike racks for the city of New York. [...] The circular shape of their rack mimics the size and form of a bicycle wheel and features a cross-brace to add stability. The racks appear to float on the ground and are made from cast metal. Over the next three years more than 5,000 of their designs will be installed in the city.”
